Search for Common Ground (SFCG) is an international non-profit organization that promotes peaceful resolution of conflict. With headquarters in Washington, and a European office in Brussels, SFCG’s mission is to transform how individuals, organizations, and governments deal with conflict - away from adversarial approaches and toward cooperative solutions. SFCG seeks to help conflicting parties understand their differences and act on their commonalities. With a total of approximately 600 staff worldwide, SFCG implements projects from 50 offices in 35 countries, including in Africa, Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and the United States. 

The Institutional Learning Team

The Institutional Learning Team (ILT) sits at the heart of the organisation, and it includes DM&E Specialists for Asia, Middle East & North Africa, East and Southern Africa, and West Africa. ILT is a fun team to be part of and undertakes work that spans the full spectrum of work of the organisation. ILT works across every programme at SFCG either on Design, Monitoring & Evaluation (DM&E) related issues or on learning and cross-fertilisation related themes.

Job Description

Supervised by the regional DM&E Specialist for the Middle East and North Africa, SFCG seeks a Regional DM&E Associate to support SFCG’s monitoring and evaluation work. The initial contract is for six months, with possible extension depending on funding.

Regional DM&E Associate’s Responsibilities

  • Support effective, conflict sensitive and innovative DM&E practices for projects in the Middle East and North Africa region.

  • Reinforce DM&E systems in country offices by providing support to the national DM&E staff and the DM&E Specialist.

  • Strengthen DM&E capacities of SFCG national staff and partners;

  • Support internal baselines and evaluations based on SFCG Evaluation Guidelines and Policies;

  • Organise meetings, take notes, and provide logistical and administrative DM&E support to the DM&E Specialist for the Middle East and North Africa.

As job descriptions cannot be exhaustive, the position holder may be required to undertake other duties that are broadly in line with the above key duties.


  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in one of the social sciences, conflict resolution, international development, or a related field;
  • Minimum two years of relevant work experience in monitoring and evaluation;
  • Excellent written and oral English skills , Arabic skills and French are desirable;
  • Experience in information gathering and research;
  • Ability to work well under pressure with strong attention to detail and organizational skill
  • Ability to maintain professionalism, creativity, and enthusiasm while working in a fast-paced, multi-cultural environment
  • Self-starter, able to work independently, and willing to take on tasks small and large
  • Excellent computer skills (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, various Web 2.0 tools)
  • position opened to all nationalities in MENA region

Salary: Salary range  2000-2500 USD
