Position Summary
Search for Common Ground is seeking a Finance Officer for Sudan office. The Finance Officer will be responsible for effective management of finance department under the leadership of the country finance coordinator and the country director.
Key Responsibilities
- Review support documents and ensure compliance with SFCG and Donor rules and regulations;
- File all support documents for country office finances;
- Review sub-award expenses before they are posted to the finance system;
- Work hand in hand with country finance coordinator to reconcile sub-award advances;
- Participate in SFCG country procurement activities;
- Handle and reconcile petty cash for the country office;
- Monitor funds, ensuring that up to date records of expenditures are kept and that they comply with budget allocations and donor requirements;
- Monitor the budget Vs actual (BVA) before processing any payment to ensure we are within the budget.
- Completion of payment vouchers and ensuring proper and relevant approvals are done.
- Process both bank and petty cash payments
- Scanning of all support documents;
- Reconcile all staff advances in the country office;
- Ensure compliance with financial statutory matters;
- Conduct partner site visit every quarter.
As job descriptions cannot be exhaustive, the position holder may be required to undertake other duties that are broadly in line with the above key responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- University degree in accounting, business administration or equivalent
Experience
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience working for INGO in finance, grants management positions,
- Experience in handling Donor and statutory audit
Skills and Competencies
- Strong spreadsheet and data analysis advanced skills (Microsoft Office, especially Excel, any accounting software, using SAGE INTACCT would be an advantage)
- Commitment to working in a conflict transformation organization and flexible to respond to dynamic situations and ability to manage multiple activities at once
- A good team player and ready to work with a diverse team of employees
- Excellent communication skills with spoken and written skills in English to be able to establish and maintain good relationships with colleagues and partners
- Strong leadership and management skills
